Glimmers- A Creative M/Others Writing Workshop

This fun and inspiring Creative Writing workshop invites all m/others and grandm/others - those who have never taken pen to paper, self to the stage, and for those more experienced but wanting to expand into other areas of creativity. This workshop provides experimentation with language, connection with creation and a chance to express and explore both our inner and outer landscapes. We all have a unique story and our own way of sharing it- using Creative Writing to explore the theme of ‘glimmers’, fleeting moments of joy, we will use creativity as an avenue to come back to our bodies, empowering our voice and examining the human experience in greater depth. We will look at tools, techniques and prompts for writing and avenues to access ways to creatively soar. The workshop aims to evoke deep feelings and care around how we use this practice to inspire us, how we can live a more connected existence, that better supports our lives and in turn our spirit.

Children welcome too.

Rebecca Tantony is the author of three poetry and flash nonfiction collections, all published by Burning Eye Books. In 2012 she was awarded a First Class BA in Religion and Creative Writing and in 2016 an MA in Creative Writing both from Bath Spa University. Over the years, her work has been published in Magma and Mslexia, featured on Radio Four and the BBC, and her projects Seventeen (2021), Singing My Mother’s Song (2019) and All The Journeys I Never Took (2017) were funded by the Arts Council, U.K. She has read her writing in numerous venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Natural History Museum, Southbank Centre, in Romania, Turkey, Sweden, South Africa and America. Alongside her own practice Rebecca has taught Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, to both BA and MA students at Wits University Johannesburg, at Arvon Centres, for 826 Valencia in San Francisco and for a huge variety of schools and community organisations. She is currently a Writing Fellow at Plymouth University, (2024-2026).

Rebecca will be headlining Mother's on the Mic on Friday 13 December at Exeter Library, performing alongside Amanda Forman, folk guitarist and singer, offering a debut poetry set that explores the concept of time, generational lessons and becoming a mother. It will be a heartfelt poetic journey scored to a beautiful soundtrack.
